I see too many artists on *the platforms* posting about taking 45 hours on a painting, 120 hours on a drawing or 356 days on a painting…
Well, how about 27 minutes? That’s this piece and I love it (well, technically it took 56 years, 31 days and 27 minutes).
Because the time it takes you to make it doesn’t f**ing matter. It’s the process. It’s the result. It’s how it makes you feel while creating and when finishing. I don’t care if it took you five minutes or five days. Time is takes does not add to or take away from the “value” of the work itself. How and when you get to the point of finishing and sharing with the world is all that matters really.
Important note:
* I didn’t even plan on anything really happening when I went into the studio. Which is what I preach about is go into the studio being OPEN. I was just gonna put some color in a couple sections and… Boom. There it is. Finito. Luck? No. Preparation? YES.
The result of going into the studio EVERYDAY- even if to just organize, prep or doodle. It’s about always being ready. Good things happen when you are ready and you just get out of the way.
