‘PeppApocalypse’
14″x11″
Ink on Archival Paper

The illustration, “PeppApocalypse,” turns the cheerful pig into a Weltschmerz nightmare, reflecting the exhaustion of 2025’s cultural overload. The parody savagely warps a benign children’s icon into a monstrous, destructive force. This is social commentary on the corruption of innocence, suggesting that even the safest media is ultimately consumed and regurgitated as frightening, polarizing chaos.

**Weltschmerz Series

**This is parody in order to communicate my social commentary using our childhood cartoons as inspiration and how they might react finding themselves suddenly existing in our current reality.**

My childhood cartoons would not make sense of our world today if they found themselves transported out of the world they currently live in…brightly colored, crisp clean lines and storyline resolutions in 22 minutes.

This series allows me to express my thoughts, and provides some therapy, on the state of our country, world, culture … today, without being overtly political.

I will be adding more current cartoon characters bc I think it continues to relate to new generations… not just mine.

At the surface they’re just paintings of known, beloved characters— but they’re also a comment on the world I see.
